Description
Small Japanese “mamezara” plates by Azmaya, showcasing two historic ceramic techniques: Inban printing and Dobai ash glaze.
About this item
These palm-sized porcelain plates are crafted by Azmaya, a respected Japanese tableware maker known for timeless design and traditional craftsmanship.
Two classic techniques are represented:
• Inban (印判) – Hand-transfer printed porcelain
A historic printing method where patterns are individually transferred. Subtle misalignments and faint variations are natural characteristics of this process.
• Dobai (土灰) – Natural ash glaze
A glaze made using wood ash, producing a softly textured surface with delicate tonal variations and occasional iron spots.
Compact and versatile, these plates are ideal for soy sauce, condiments, small appetizers, jewelry display, or interior styling.
Curator’s Note
The combination of Inban print and Dobai ash glaze reflects the quiet beauty of Japanese ceramic tradition in a refined, everyday form.
