Bizen ware (備前焼) is one of Japan’s oldest ceramic traditions, known for its unglazed surface and natural firing effects.
This sake cup is a handcrafted piece by Japanese ceramic artist Chie Takeuchi (竹内 千恵). Formed and fired without glaze, the surface is shaped entirely by flame and ash inside the kiln.
Soft transitions between warm earthy tones and pale ash effects create a quieter, more subtle expression compared to darker Bizen pieces. The result is a gentle presence that reveals depth over time.
Small and well-balanced, it fits naturally in the hand and complements the intimate ritual of drinking sake.
