Description
A traditional Kurotake (black bamboo) matcha whisk, handcrafted in Takayama, Nara, Japan. Strong, balanced, and made for daily practice—quietly durable rather than decorative.

About This Matcha Whisk
This is a black bamboo chasen made in Takayama, Nara—the historic center of Japanese whisk-making. Crafted by Sabun Kubo (Kumei-do), a respected workshop known for producing authentic tea tools with long-standing craftsmanship.

Originally created as a practice whisk for Omotesenke-style tea ceremony, this chasen is valued for its resilience and steady performance, making it ideal for regular use at home or in training.

Craftsmanship & Tradition
Takayama chasen are recognized in Japan as a Traditional Craft. Each whisk is:
• Fully handmade using traditional methods
• Made in Japan under the supervision of a certified master craftsman
