Description
A quiet, earthy yunomi tea cup fired in Bizen, Japan—matte black, unglazed, and made to deepen with daily use.
This is not glossy porcelain. Black Bizen (Kuro-Bizen) has a tactile, natural surface shaped by high-heat firing and the character of the clay itself. The result is a cup that feels grounded and calm in the hand—perfect for simple tea moments, mindful routines, and Japandi / wabi-sabi interiors.
Why Black Bizen (Functional Beauty)
• Unglazed surface: Microscopic pores in high-fired stoneware can soften the edge of tea and create a rounder mouthfeel.
• Heat retention: Dense clay holds warmth well, keeping tea comfortable for longer.
• Ages with use: With repeated handling and washing, a subtle luster can slowly appear—an understated “sabi” patina over time.
Perfect For
• Sencha, hojicha, or daily tea rituals
• Minimalist tables and Zen-inspired spaces
• A meaningful gift for tea lovers and ceramic collectors
