A one-of-a-kind Japanese ceramic planter defined by its sculptural form and striking layers of color and texture.
The surface transitions from deep charcoal black at the upper rim through earthy brown tones to a pale, stone-like base. Rather than a uniform finish, the firing creates subtle variations across the surface, giving the pot the appearance of weathered earth or exposed geological layers.
Its wide, substantial rim and compact sculptural body give the piece a strong architectural presence while allowing the irregular ceramic surface to remain visible from every angle.
Designed and handmade in Japan, this planter works particularly well with bonsai, caudex plants, succulents, and other sculptural plants where the relationship between plant and vessel is an important part of the composition.
Each piece is individually handmade and fired. Variations in shape, glaze, texture, color, and slight distortion are natural characteristics of the making and firing process rather than defects.
This is the exact piece shown in the photographs and is available as a one-of-a-kind item.
