Kabazaiku (桜皮細工) is a traditional craft from Akita, Japan, made by layering and polishing the bark of wild cherry trees.
This small plate carries the quiet depth unique to this material — a surface where natural patterns emerge through time and careful craftsmanship. The subtle variations in tone and texture create a presence that feels both organic and refined.
Originally used for serving small sweets, it works beautifully as a dish for wagashi, a resting place for small objects, or simply as a quiet decorative piece.
Its compact size makes it easy to incorporate into everyday rituals, adding a gentle sense of materiality and warmth to the space.
