Japanese Tenugui “Yagura” – Textile Art Set
This set includes a traditional Japanese tenugui and a Hinoki (Japanese cypress) tapestry rod, allowing the cloth to be displayed as calm, minimalist wall décor.
The design “Yagura” is inspired by the wooden drying structures used for hanging freshly dyed tenugui — a familiar scene in Japan since the Edo period. Dyed using the historic Chusen technique, color is poured through layers of fabric, creating soft depth and beautiful natural gradation.
Because Chusen dyeing permeates the cloth, the tenugui has no true “front” or “back” (unlike printed textiles). Minimal in design yet rich in cultural presence, it functions as textile art that quietly brings a Japanese atmosphere into modern interiors.
