A one-of-a-kind Japanese Sekimori Ishi handcrafted from natural Niigata stone.
This piece features a balanced two-tier composition made from two naturally rounded stones. A pale speckled upper stone rests above a smooth gray lower stone, and the entire form is carefully bound by hand with natural hemp cord.
Sekimori Ishi are traditionally placed in Japanese gardens and tea gardens as subtle boundary markers, gently indicating that an area should not be entered. Today, they are also appreciated as sculptural decorative objects that express the quiet beauty of Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics.
The contrast between the two stones—their different colors, textures, and natural forms—gives this piece a calm yet distinctive presence. It is well suited to an entryway, tea room, meditation space, shelf, minimalist interior, or contemporary garden display.
Each stone is naturally unique in shape, texture, color, and surface markings. This is a one-of-a-kind piece, and the exact item shown in the photographs will be sent.
