A one-of-a-kind Japanese Sekimori Ishi handcrafted from natural Niigata stone.
This distinctive piece features a two-tier composition made from two contrasting stones: a dark, reddish upper stone resting on a gray rectangular base. The stones are carefully bound by hand with natural hemp cord, creating a strong yet balanced sculptural form.
Sekimori Ishi are traditionally placed in Japanese gardens and tea gardens as subtle boundary markers, gently indicating that an area should not be entered. Today, they are also appreciated as decorative objects that embody the quiet beauty of Japanese wabi-sabi aesthetics.
The contrast in color, texture, and shape gives this piece a particularly architectural presence. It works beautifully in an entryway, tea room, meditation space, minimalist interior, on a shelf, or as part of a contemporary garden display.
Each stone is naturally unique in shape, texture, color, and surface markings. This is a one-of-a-kind piece, and the exact item shown in the photographs will be sent.
