A sculptural cast iron tadpole ornament by Kamasada, the renowned ironware workshop in Morioka, Japan.
Designed by Shotaro Miya, the second-generation craftsman of Kamasada, this playful object reflects a distinctive approach to traditional Nambu ironware, bringing together craftsmanship, modern design, and a sense of humor.
With its wide-open mouth, circular eye, and gently undulating tail, the tadpole appears to be swimming through the air. Its silhouette is both expressive and remarkably minimal.
The solid black iron form is supported by a small natural wooden base, creating a striking contrast between the two materials.
Rather than functioning as a conventional decorative figurine, this piece can be appreciated as a small sculptural object — one that introduces movement and personality into a quiet interior.
