About the Artist

Born in Dachi, Gifu Prefecture, Masanori Tanaka devoted his life to exploring the expressive possibilities of Oribe and modern Japanese ceramics.

Despite decades of kidney disease and dialysis, he continued creating until the end of his life. Following a successful transplant, his passion for pottery grew even stronger, but later complications from infection ultimately brought his remarkable journey to a close.

Today, each remaining work stands as a lasting testament to his dedication, resilience, and artistic vision.
