WABISABI KITCHEN – ONIGIRI KIT
Japanese Rice Ball Making Set
We carefully curate and send only the foods that we can truly recommend from Japan.
Due to export restrictions, many fresh ingredients cannot be shipped overseas — but within those limitations, we thoughtfully select items that still capture the true taste of Japan.
Each kit is composed of products we genuinely love, chosen for their quality, history, and craftsmanship.
Onigiri (Japanese rice balls) are one of Japan’s most quiet and essential home foods.
They’re not “fast food” in Japan — they’re the kind of small meal made for daily life: for work breaks, school lunches, travel, and simple moments at home.
This Onigiri Kit is designed to help you experience that calm simplicity through two things:
• a well-made tool that makes shaping easy and beautiful
• seasonings with deep, authentic Japanese flavor that make plain rice feel complete
At the center of the set is a hinoki wooden onigiri mold, made in Japan.
Hinoki (Japanese cypress) is valued for its clean aroma and smooth grain, and it gently shapes rice into soft, balanced triangles without needing special skill. The result feels natural and handmade — simple, quiet, and satisfying.
To season your rice, the kit includes premium Ariake nori (seaweed) and three classic rice seasonings:
• Yukari (shiso plum) – bright, tangy, and refreshing
• Shio Kombu (salted kelp) – savory, ocean-deep umami
• Hanamusubi furikake – a dried vegetable blend with layered texture and gentle fragrance
(nozawana, ao-jiso, red turnip, daikon, shibazuke, carrot)
And for finishing, this set includes Rokusuke Salt — a special umami salt created by Chef Shozo Takano, owner of the famed Akasaka restaurant “Kushiyaki Rokusuke.”
Infused with natural umami from dried shiitake, kombu, and dried scallops, it has a deep, rounded savoriness that is clearly different from ordinary salt. Even a small pinch melts softly on the tongue and spreads a calm, lingering richness through warm rice.
This kit is not about novelty or decoration.
It is about experiencing the quiet depth of Japanese home flavors — with honest ingredients and tools made to be used every day.
