Sekimori-ishi (関守石) is a traditional stone marker used in Japanese gardens and tea gardens.
Historically, this small stone tied with rope was placed along garden paths to quietly indicate that guests should not proceed further. Rather than a sign, it acts as a subtle and poetic boundary within the landscape.
This piece is made from a natural stone sourced in Niigata, Japan, carefully tied with a cotton rope in the traditional style. The soft, rounded form of the stone and the simple rope knot create a calm sculptural presence.
It works beautifully as a Zen garden object, tea room accent, or wabi-sabi interior piece. Each stone is naturally unique, making every piece one of a kind.
