Description
Handcrafted in Shizuoka, Japan, this lantern is made using Suruga Take Sensuji Zaiku (駿河竹千筋細工), a traditional bamboo craft officially designated by Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry.
Unlike woven bamboo work, Sensuji craft is built by inserting extremely thin round bamboo rods (higo) into a precisely constructed frame, creating an airy, highly refined structure.
About “Shinsetsu (New Snow)”
This model is a contemporary interpretation of the classic form:
• The bamboo rods are fixed only at the base and gathered at the top
• One-third of the back is intentionally left open, revealing the woven bamboo base
• The silhouette feels quiet, minimal, and poetic—beautiful as a light stand or as a sculptural object
Use it with the included LED candle, or display it as pure bamboo art.
