A vintage two-tier Hida Shunkei lacquerware container from Takayama, Gifu Prefecture, Japan.
Hida Shunkei is a traditional lacquerware craft known for its warm amber-red color and translucent finish, which allows the natural character of the wood to remain visible beneath the lacquer.
This piece consists of two stacked compartments with a fitted carrying handle. Its compact architectural form and warm lacquer finish make it especially beautiful for serving wagashi, small sweets, or other accompaniments during tea.
It may also be used as a small decorative storage box or displayed as an example of traditional Japanese lacquer craftsmanship.
This is vintage unused old stock that has been kept in storage.
