Vintage Japanese Bamboo Hanakago Ikebana Flower Basket
Couldn't load pickup availability
This is a vintage Japanese bamboo hanakago, a traditional flower basket used for ikebana arrangements and tea ceremony settings.
The basket has a particularly beautiful sculptural form, with a rounded lower body, gently narrowing neck, and an exceptionally tall, slender bamboo handle.
Several different weaving techniques are incorporated into the body. The lower section features an open lattice weave, while the upper section transitions into a tighter diagonal pattern, creating a striking contrast in texture and light.
Its elongated silhouette makes the piece visually impressive even without flowers, and it can be displayed as a sculptural Japanese bamboo object in its own right.
This piece was acquired in Japan as an older period item. Its exact age and maker are unknown.
CONDITION
Good vintage condition.
There are some minor scuffs, scratches, and other light signs of age and use. These are relatively subtle and do not significantly detract from the overall appearance of the piece.
Please refer carefully to the photographs for the condition and individual details.
