Vintage Japanese Bamboo Sweet Box – Yufu, Oita
A beautiful vintage Japanese lidded sweet container crafted from bamboo and finished with lacquer.
This piece comes from Yufu in Oita Prefecture, an area known for traditional bamboo craftsmanship. The open lattice sides create a light, architectural appearance, while the lacquered finish gives the bamboo a rich reddish-brown tone and subtle sheen.
The removable lid features an intricate woven bamboo pattern, adding both texture and decorative detail.
Traditionally used as a kashiki, or container for serving Japanese sweets, this piece can also be used as a decorative storage box, tea room accessory, or display object in a Japanese, wabi-sabi, or Japandi-inspired interior.
