Vintage Japanese Bamboo Sweet Box – Yufu, Oita
A beautiful vintage Japanese lidded sweet container crafted from bamboo and finished with lacquer.
This piece comes from Yufu in Oita Prefecture, an area known for traditional bamboo craftsmanship. The intricate woven bamboo lid and open lattice sides showcase the beauty and precision of Japanese bamboo work.
Finished in a rich reddish-brown lacquer, the piece has a warm, elegant appearance while allowing the natural texture of the bamboo to remain visible.
Traditionally used as a kashiki, or container for serving Japanese sweets, it can also be used as a small decorative storage basket, tea room accessory, or display object.
Its compact size makes it especially suitable for serving a small selection of wagashi or displaying as part of a Japanese, wabi-sabi, or Japandi-inspired interior.
