A striking vintage Japanese artist-made ceramic planter with an irregular crescent-shaped form and a deeply textured surface inspired by the rugged appearance of natural stone.
Rather than following the conventional symmetrical form of a bonsai pot, this piece has been shaped into an elongated, asymmetrical vessel reminiscent of a fragment of rock or weathered landscape.
Its dramatic silhouette and exceptionally rough surface give it a strong sculptural presence even when displayed without a plant.
KURAMA STONE INSPIRED DESIGN
The surface and form of this ceramic vessel were created to evoke the rugged natural character associated with Kurama stone from Kyoto.
Please note that this piece is ceramic and is not made from actual Kurama stone.
The coarse clay surface, irregular edges, cavities, ridges, and deliberately weathered appearance reproduce the visual character of naturally fractured stone and bark.
SCULPTURAL CRESCENT FORM
The vessel has an elongated boat-like or crescent silhouette with intentionally uneven heights.
One end rises to approximately 10 cm, while the opposite side is approximately 7 cm high.
This asymmetry gives the piece a completely different appearance depending on the viewing angle and creates a natural landscape-like composition when planted.
The dark gray to nearly black surface, rough clay body, and natural firing variations further emphasize its primitive, geological character.
BONSAI & PLANTING
A drainage hole is located in the base, allowing the piece to function as a planter.
Its irregular form is particularly suited to bonsai, moss compositions, wild grasses, alpine plants, cascading or slanting tree forms, succulents, caudex plants, and other sculptural planting arrangements.
It can also be displayed without plants as an abstract ceramic object or landscape vessel.

CONDITION
Very good vintage condition.
There are no noticeable structural cracks, breaks, or major chips that interfere with use.
IMPORTANT:
The extremely rough surface, irregular edges, cavities, projections, fissure-like lines, and areas that may visually resemble chips or cracks are intentional characteristics of the design.
They form part of the artist's attempt to evoke the appearance of naturally fractured stone and weathered organic surfaces and should not be considered damage.
Variations in texture, form, coloration, and firing are inherent characteristics of this handmade ceramic piece.
Please refer carefully to all photographs for the exact condition and surface characteristics.
This is a one-of-a-kind vintage piece. The photographs show the actual item you will receive.
