Jinnai Sakata — Sculptural Ceramic Cylinder Vase
Mashiko, Japan
A striking ceramic vessel attributed to Japanese artist Jinnai Sakata (坂田甚内), distinguished by its elongated form and deeply textured surface.
The tall, narrow body has an earthy, weathered appearance, with subtle horizontal markings and natural variations in firing tones.
Along one side, an irregular raised formation extends vertically, creating a dramatic sculptural detail reminiscent of a fractured architectural fragment.
The surface shifts between warm sand, ash gray, and dark charcoal near the base, emphasizing the raw character of the clay.
At 26 cm tall, this piece has a quiet yet commanding presence. Its narrow silhouette makes it particularly suited to minimalist interiors, where a single object can define a space.
Display it on its own as a ceramic sculpture, or use it for a restrained arrangement of dried branches.
