Vintage Jinnai Sakata Mashiko Pottery Bowl and Ceramic Trivet Set

Jinnai Sakata — Black Ceramic Bowl and Textured Trivet Set

A distinctive two-piece ceramic set by Japanese artist Jinnai Sakata (坂田甚内), associated with Mashiko pottery.

The set consists of a small, rounded black ceramic bowl and a larger circular ceramic trivet, both finished in dark charcoal tones.

The bowl has a gently curved silhouette with fine horizontal ridges wrapping around its exterior. Its simple, compact form creates a quiet contrast with the richly textured surface of the accompanying trivet.

The circular trivet features an expressive pattern of flowing, wave-like lines across its surface. Its irregular edge and subtle variations in the dark clay emphasize the handmade character of the piece.

Displayed together, the two elements create a layered sculptural composition. The contrast between the bowl's concentric lines and the trivet's organic pattern is especially compelling.

Although described as a small pot in its original Japanese listing, this piece is presented here as a ceramic vessel and art object rather than cookware. Its suitability for direct heat or stovetop use has not been verified.

The set can be appreciated as a decorative composition, or the two elements may be displayed separately.
