A charming vintage Japanese paperweight made in the tradition of Nambu ironware.

Designed in the form of a miniature iron kettle, this compact cast iron object combines the familiar silhouette of traditional Japanese tetsubin with the function of a desk weight.

The rounded handle, short spout, textured body, and small footed base give the piece a surprisingly sculptural presence despite its small scale.

NAMBU IRONWARE

Nambu ironware, or Nambu Tekki, is a traditional Japanese cast iron craft associated with the Tohoku region of Japan.

Known for its durable construction and distinctive dark iron surface, the tradition is especially associated with kettles, teapots, and other cast iron objects.

This miniature piece translates the visual language of Nambu ironware into a compact decorative and functional object.

PAPERWEIGHT & DISPLAY OBJECT

Originally intended as a bunshin, or paperweight, the piece can be used on a desk to hold papers in place.

Because of its distinctive kettle form, it can also be displayed simply as a small Japanese cast iron object.

Its compact scale makes it particularly suitable for a desk, shelf, display tray, or collection of small Japanese crafts.
