Sotaro Saegusa — Bronze Ox Sculpture
Japanese Zodiac Art Object
A small yet striking bronze ox sculpture by Japanese artist Sotaro Saegusa (三枝惣太郎).
Defined by its angular silhouette and geometric planes, the figure transforms the familiar form of an ox into a compact, modernist sculpture.
The dark metal surface carries subtle tonal variations, while the open space beneath the body gives the piece a sense of balance and architectural clarity.
In the Japanese zodiac, the ox (Ushi) is associated with patience, diligence, and steady progress. Zodiac animal objects are traditionally displayed as symbols of good fortune and as seasonal decorations.
Beyond its symbolic meaning, this piece has a quiet sculptural presence that works beautifully in contemporary interiors.
Place it on a shelf, desk, or alongside a collection of ceramics and art objects.
